Our Story
Why we started Robotics Team Outfitters

At Robotics Team Outfitters (RTO), we believe every robotics team deserves to look professional, competition-ready, and unified—regardless of team size, mentor count, or budget. Too often, FRC, FTC, and FLL teams are forced to choose between high minimum order requirements or low-quality gear that doesn’t represent their program. We started Robotics Team Outfitters to solve that problem.

We provide custom robotics team gear, including FRC team shirtsFTC team apparelFLL team shirtsrobotics competition apparelcustom bannerspit signage, and team fundraising merchandise—all with no minimum order requirements. Whether you need a single team hoodie, a full set of competition shirts, or an online fundraising store for supporters, we make it easy for teams to get the gear they need without overordering or overspending.

This isn’t just a business—it’s a mission built by people who live and breathe robotics.

Both founders maintain full-time careers outside of Robotics Team Outfitters, which keeps RTO grounded in real-world experience and focused on serving teams the right way. Brian is a full-time airline pilot for Spirit Airlines and the sole owner of St. Louis Printworks, a leader in custom apparel and large-format printing. Dave is a Technology Team Leader within the Trades department at a Fortune 300 financial services firm headquartered in St. Louis (Edward Jones) and a disabled U.S. Army veteran.

Through years of mentoring, sponsoring, and collaborating with robotics teams in Missouri and beyond, we’ve seen firsthand how strong team branding builds pride, boosts confidence, strengthens sponsor relationships, and helps teams stand out at competitions. Whether you’re a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team, FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team, FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team, VEX Robotics program, or local STEM club, Robotics Team Outfitters is here to help you look your best with custom team apparel, flags, banners, signage, and fundraising solutions—all without minimum order requirements.

Every robotics team deserves to look professional, no matter their size.

Meet the Founders

Founders Dave Wright and Brian Menier of Robotics Team Outfitters (RTO), providing custom robotics team apparel, banners, and fundraising stores.

Brian Menier

Custom Printing Expert & Robotics Mentor

Brian is the sole owner of St. Louis Printworks, where he brings years of hands-on experience in custom apparel printing, large-format graphics, banners, and signage. His connection to robotics began when his daughter joined Ratchet Rockers Robotics Team 1706. Inspired by the impact robotics and mentorship had on her growth, Brian became a mentor himself and continues to support the team and other FIRST Robotics programs through mentorship, sponsorship, and high-quality custom printing.

Brian’s expertise ensures that every piece of robotics team apparel, competition banner, and event display produced by Robotics Team Outfitters meets professional standards and is built to hold up through competition season.

Dave Wright

U.S. Army Veteran, Technology Leader & Active FIRST Robotics Mentor

Dave is a disabled U.S. Army veteran and an active mentor with Ratchet Rockers Robotics Team 1706. Over the years, he has helped the team raise critical funds to meet growing engineering and design standards, secure major sponsorships, and strengthen the team’s overall brand presence. His involvement in robotics is deeply personal—he continues to maintain strong relationships with many of the students he has mentored, including his son, who spent four years on the team.

Professionally, Dave is a Technology Team Leader within the Trades department at a Fortune 300 financial services firm headquartered in St. Louis (Edward Jones). His background in technology leadership, accessibility, and systems thinking directly influences how Robotics Team Outfitters operates—bringing structure, reliability, and scalability to everything from online team stores to robotics fundraising apparel programs.

Together, Brian and Dave rebranded the Ratchet Rockers, helping them become one of the most recognizable robotics teams in the St. Louis region. Their work built lasting relationships with other teams and with FIRST in Missouri, reinforcing RTO’s commitment to supporting the broader robotics community.
